Marvel at the Tudor clerestory of St John the Baptist’s Church with its excellent tracery, flushwork panels and contrasting light stone and flint. Impressive craftsmanship abounds inside too by way of the hammerbeam roof, octagonal pillars and original furnishings from the completion of the church in the 16th century. Each bench end is unique but most have been vandalised by iconoclasts, which must have happened shortly after they were carved. Other items of note include the Royal Arms of Charles II, a set of stocks, a 19th century funerary bier and barrel organ.
